Saint Gobain Recherche SA (SG) is an industrial research and development centre working for light and sustainable construction of the Saint-Gobain Group, the world leader in light and sustainable construction.

The Thin Films Department has developed methods for the production of TCO-coated substrate for thin film solar cells, especially adding alternative transparent conductive coatings. SG will, therefore, support the cost estimation of the TCO at the industrial scale.

Main infrastructures available to carry out the project activities include: i) Vertical magnetron sputtering coater semi-industrial batch coater, up to 40x40 cm2 substrates; ii) SIMS, X-ray microprobe, XPS, SEM (x4). Flisom AG (FLI) has developed its own proprietary roll-to-roll manufacturing plant for the production of monolithically connected solar modules on 1-meter-wide and about 1000-meter-long rolls of polymer film.
